Duo's something of a player in this fic, but it doesn't last and he suddenly feels the urge to find someone special in his life. By a stroke of luck, he meets Heero and the two slowly but surely strike up a relationship. 

One of the really interesting thing in this fic is their occupations (Duo's an attorney and Heero's a psychologist) and their work behavior carries over to their relationship. 0083 does not stereotype the two professions; she just draws out peculiar traits and instill them into Heero and Duo's personality. Also, while Relena does not have a very big role in the fic, she is a surprising 'nice' person when she does appear. She's not a whining bitch or evil life-wrecking person the earlier parts of the fic leads us to believe. Rather, she's a matured adult victimized by her friends and family's over-protectiveness.

This is a four part fic that is set in post-war time, and the boys are trying their best to lead relatively normal lives. It starts with Duo coming to a stunning realization and things just spiral out of control there. Almost instantly, Duo decides that living with Heero as his house maker is not what he wants in life and the two breaks it off rather heatedly.

It's hard to say what I like about this fic, but I guess it's the plot and the POV. The plot is not another of those over-done, happy happy joy joy type where the boys' lives after the war and after they get together is just perfect. Considering their track records, I actually think that this sort of conflict is quite possible even though I don't like the idea of Heero doing a desk job. Also, the conflict between Heero and Duo is not blown out of proportions where one will try to commit suicide just because of a broken relationship. Plot wise, this fic is not overly dramatized nor is it too sappy. It's sweet, in a nice way. Also, Heero and Duo both have rather interesting thought patterns, and it's quite obvious from their respective POVs.

Due to Relena's well, observations to say the least, Duo tries to change himself so as to keep Heero with him. However, the changes are so drastic that Duo starts to hate it and he eventually withdraws into himself. A game of truth or dare, however, forces the entire issue to be brought out into the light.

I love the plot, actually. It's not occurred to me before this fic that even a seemingly innocent game can cause so much grief and misery for someone. I mean, it's just not right. Games are supposed to entertain, not cause sorrow. Alright, so truth or dare isn't the typical nice-nice game, but you know what I mean. The plot flows pretty well too. But some things do happen a bit too abruptly, I think. Duo's vulnerability is another highlight of this fic. I especially like Duo angst because that usually means that Heero will be there to cheer him back up.

Evil Relena, angst, heavy lime

This is a 'what-if' type of fic that delves into a situation where Treize is actually a really good guy. After Treize gets thrown into jail by Romefella, he meets Duo who was caught in a mission earlier. The two clears up some misunderstanding and slowly build up a tentative friendship that slowly extends to all the pilots. The plot is more than just that of course, but it's better if you were to read it yourself. 

The thing to look out for here is characterization. Some of the interesting ones are Duo, Treize, Une and Mariemaia. Duo is portrayed as a jester and many times, the comic relief, but his intelligence and maturity shines through on many occasions. Treize is cool and collected usually, but when he's around his lovers and sometimes Duo, he can become pretty playful in a funny way. And it's not often you get to see a mother-hen Une around, and it's sheer delight to see her trying to baby Duo. Mariemaia is like a fresh breath of air into the fic, providing the innocence and naivety of a child amidst all the fighting, and she does all these really sweet things for everyone like the child she is. Absolutely sweet child, I tell you.

It goes like this: Heero and Duo are the best of pals for a long time now, and everyone thinks they're a couple and teases them as such. The two of them get so sick of all the teasing that they decide to get back at their friends by pretending to be a real couple. Sounds cliché, doesn't it? But this is where the cliché ends.

Blue Soaring's portrayal of Heero and Duo is insanely cute, and the things they did just to get  back at their friends made me laugh out loud most of the time. Subtlety is the name of the name, and the two play it just well enough to get the guys to suspicious. I especially liked Heero's mother in this fic. And of course, who can forget Wufei's comments near the end of the fic? ^o^

AU, lime, sap

I've always been a sucker for fics where Heero has to fight tooth and nail for Duo's affections, and this fic really fits that description. Wufei and Duo are lovers at the start at the fic, but Wufei gives up their relationship to marry a survivor from Meiran's clan. Duo becomes disheartened and does a lot of silly things, but he eventually finds Heero there for him and ready to help him pick up the pieces. 

It's easy to dislike Wufei here, but in my opinion, he's kinda stuck between his principals and his love. Also, he gets into a loveless marriage although there is respect between him and his wife. So don't strike Wufei's name off your 'Nice guy' list so soon. Luckily, Calic0cat does try to give insight into his choice and his personal struggle. Likewise, Duo's anguish and pain at the breakup is also shown quite vividly.

'Mission: Marriage'

Relena is psychotically obsessed with Heero, and his only way of getting away from her is to get married. He decides to go after Duo, whom he has liked for a long while but is completely oblivious to his feelings.

The fic is pretty amusing is some ways, especially when Relena shows up and stalks Heero, but it is still quite serious in other ways. Heero tries to be loving towards Duo but still reminds himself constantly to keep a distance or risk scaring Duo away, and it is this love/fear thing he has for Duo that makes the fic alive. Of course, Duo has his own struggle to overcome make the relationship work. The rest of the characters are pretty much like leaves to a flower; they add a lot of other interesting elements to the fic and liven things up.

Duo is a psychic, and he gets plagued with all these visions of Relena's murder, who is believed to be a victim of a serial killer. He tries to help solve the crime by going to to the police, but he becomes a suspect instead. Heero, a desperate investigator, believes his visions and tries to get his help. As a result of his psychic powers, Duo is viewed skeptically by many and eventually becomes a victim himself.

Actually, I'm not quite sure what is it about this fic that pulled me in. I guess it's the really sweet relationship between Heero and Duo, and the surprising turn the plot took near the end. I hope I didn't spoil anything by saying this...

The story starts with Heero and Relena's wedding rehearsal, but Duo, the best man is strangely missing. When Heero calls over, he finally discovers that Duo had been in a traffic accident. And when Duo wakes up from his coma, he's lost all his memories.

I guess I like the vulnerable Duo and the well, loving Heero. There's a little sap here, especially when you're talking about the things Heero does for Duo. Still, I like the sweetness of their actions and the occasional humour of how they think. An interesting thing about this fic is the portrayal of Duo; even though he's lost his memories, he continues to be the Duo we all know and love. The way he deals with his injuries and changes to his life as a result of his accident is also particularly endearing. All that aside, one of my favourite parts in this fic is the letter Duo writes to Heero in the beginning of the fic. Definitely a touching one.

This is a modern rendition of the run-of-the-mill Cinderella story. Instead of having a prince and a poor girl crashing his party, we have Duo getting an invitation to a party organized by Heero's wealthy parents. Duo had just moved to the city in hopes of finding a job in fashion, but he's stuck doing accounting in a fashion boutique instead. Heero is the epitome of a rich man's son, and he's instantly bowled over by Duo's good looks when they meet at the party.

I guess what  captivated me was the fact that there is very little fairytale like stuff gong on here. Instead of all that lovey dovey fluff many fairytales are famous for, Duo is a realist hoping to believe that he can make his mark in life. Getting to know Heero is just a bonus even though he knows that it's hard to make things happen between them. Heero is a little OOC here in that he's rather the naive fellow who's been too sheltered and spoilt by his parent's money. And he's also a little melodramatic, but I can accept that because it's not as bad as it sounds and this *is* a good story.

Songfic done according to Wheatus' song with the same name, and just as funny. Heero is the little nerd who's got the biggest crush on Duo Maxwell, the most popular boy in school. Unfortunately, Duo's boyfriend is the stuck-up Wufei, the second most popular boy in school.

This fic is insanely sweet. After all, it's not everyday you find a fic where Heero is the nerd wearing braces and whatnot. His crush on Duo is very obvious, and he does some really cute stuff to prove it. The guys are pretty OOC here, but I'd still recommend this fic to people who like fluff.

Don't be put off by the pairings because this is first and foremost, a 1x2 fic. Still, the relationship between all five of them is a loving and trusting one.

Heero is a prince in this fic, and it is his family's tradition to form a bond with four others. At the start of the fic, he has already found Wufei, Trowa and Quatre. When he meets Duo, he is determined to make Duo his fourth bonded, but Treize, his cousin, wants Duo as well. Things start to get complicated from there, and a lot of angst ensues.

There is quite a bit of angst here, but they serve to bring out the deep relationship the five boys have. It's like they're all friends and lovers at the same time, and they're learning about their relationship as they go along. It's particularly endearing to see Heero loving Duo though, since the two goes through a lot together. 

'Webs of Betrayal'

If you didn't hate Relena before, there's a high chance that you will after you read this fic. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, so I'll keep quiet on that one. But Relena lovers should really take note of this.

Duo is thrown into jail for a crime he did not commit, but only Trowa believes that he is innocent. Disgusted by the rest of the pilots, he starts on a long road to free his friend alone. However, when he finally does succeed, Duo's spirits and body have already been broken. For a long while, he offers Duo his friendship and tries his best to salvage what is left of Duo. Eventually, all the pilots join in the effort, even Heero.

The best thing about this fic is probably the friendship between Trowa and Duo. It's deep and steady, and it's quite apparent that this relationship becomes a salve to Duo's battered soul, yet there's nothing sexual about it. It's quite upsetting when Duo clings onto Trowa like he's his lifeline, revealing the horrors that he's been though in jail. Sad, but definitely heart-warming.

This fic is set in ancient Rome, where Duo has been captured and becomes a slave for Heero, a Roman captain. Although he's initially disgruntled at his new position, Duo eventually forms an attachment to his master, and so does Heero when Duo's singing abilities garner him a lot of attention.

One of the reasons why I adore this fic is the setting. It's nice to read a fic where the boys are all quite skimpily clad. ^^ Well, another reason is Duo's portrayal. He is cheerful but realistic about his situation, and he still manages to charm nearly everyone in the fic. Also, he's a loyal friend and slave to Heero and the way he tries to be nice to his master is really endearing.

'Teenage Dirtbag' + 'Teenage Dirtbag sequel'

Seriously, don't let the het warning scare you off because this is a really good fic. Besides, the het pairings are not the main thing of the fic.

Duo has a crush on Relena, a popular girl in school, who is already attached to Heero. However, things take a turn when Duo and Heero become friends. The sequel picks up directly from the first fic, and is a lime-y treat where Heero goes look up Duo after five years.

At first, it was amusing to see Duo and Heero becoming friends because their personality didn't exactly match up. But somehow, they became pretty good friends, regardless of their respective relationship with Relena. Then later, it became sweet to see Heero and Duo develop their friendship into something more in the sequel. A good read, really, and in fact, the only het fic I bothered to read.

Quatre is forced by his family to transfer, along with his best friend Wufei, to a boarding school where rank means power. There, he finds out that the student population is divided into 3 groups, and each group competes to be the best in the area. However, it's not just competition within the school that seems to be a big problem for Quatre when he meets new and old friends.

This fic is a little Quatre-centric, but there's still enough of Duo and Heero mentioned that I decided to give this fic a try. And I quite like Quatre's voice in this fic, particularly his thoughts about gym classes. He's amusing, kind, friendly and forgiving, pretty much the Quatre portrayed in many fics. It's kinda fun to see him stumble along in his relationship with the people he meets in his new school, particularly Trowa and Duo. As for 1x2 fans, things are pretty sweet between the two of them, but Heero isn't quite very OOC. He's possessive, quiet, firm and well, kind only to those he likes. Duo is also pretty much the 'normal' hyper Duo we see in many 1x2 fics: loud, friendly, loves Heero and of course, hyper. Very hyper. So everything sounds pretty cliché, but somehow, there is something quite refreshing and interesting about the plot that makes me read it over and over again. It's a little adventurous, romantic and drama all wrapped up in one beautiful package.

The thing I'm not really eager about is the 13x5. Usually, I'm quite okay with it, but their relationship here is too... strange for my taste. I mean, Treize is the principal and Wufei is a student. Much too strange for me, I guess.

Romance, school drama, shounen-ai, and humor

I really don't wanna say too much about this fic because it'd be such a big spoiler to a really good fic. To put it simply, this fic is about Heero contracting a fatal disease after the war as an aftereffect of overusing the Zero system.

What I like about this fic is the whole atmosphere it provokes in me when I read it: sweet and bitter. Not to mention the fact that there'll be a trail of tissues behind me. Yup, it's a tearjerker alright. And while I usually avoid 2x1 fics cuz I'm a devout 1x2 fan, this is one fic I've read that I'll never forget. The ending is probably the best part of the fic, and it's the reason why I don't like the sounds of a hospital.
